With only 17 days to go until the Eclipse movie hits the big screen, I have challenged myself to read the book before it comes. I wasn't going to read it but I really enjoyed watching the New Moon movie and seeing the book come to life. I have seen the trailer preview for Eclipse and I got excited so hence the challenge. Realistically I don't think it will happen but I have started off with a hiss and a roar, reading 102 pages over 8 hours. Gosh I even shocked myself but its been alot more easier to read than New Moon. So cheer me on readers and keep encouraging me.

Stock Taking
My first week on holiday and I decided to help the school with the annual school library stock take. Apparently it took a week last year and so more helpers would be appreciated. Monday morning arrives Kate is off to daycare and so I'm free to help out all day. Nicholas and I walked to school and my routine is to put away the reading books and then I would be free to help in the library. WOW the 8 baskets were over flowing with books to put away because the teachers had changed the reading groups thus it meant a new lot of books were needed and the old ones put back. I knew this would delay me helping in the library fortunately I have put away the books for a long time now and so I practically know where all the books live and 1 hour later all books were away and the row of boxes in order and flush with the shelf edge (because I have OCD it has to look perfect). Then it was off to the senior block to see if they had journals to put away and alas there were however not as many.
So I reach the library about 10am and three ladies were hard out taking books off shelves and opening the pages to be scanned and dusting shelves and then putting them back. The whole time I was helping all I could think about was if I was the libriarian I would make some drastic changes:
- Put the bar codes on the back of the book (saves opening them)
- Put the bar codes on the spine and then get a portable scanner and just walk around the library
- Print off a list of books that have not been issued in the last 15year and cull them out even 10 years (so many many old old books)
- Turn the books around so the spine of the books are showing thus the children can see all the books on the shelves not just the first front on book.
- Move the Librarian desk thus the sun doesn't shine on the scanner and then the scanner would work properly.
We worked at a steady pace that by 3pm we had counted over half the library. The Librarian was ecstatic and she had a feeling we could be finished by Wednesday. I on the other hand wanted to be finished by Tuesday 3pm. The best thing about the day was convincing the libriarian with support from a teacher to change the books around so all the books spines were seen. I left feeling dusty and accomplished.
Tuesday morning we started at 9am and as predicted we were finished at 2:55pm. The library looks great and I must admit I really had a great time.

New Moon is finished
So at last I have finished the book. It took me 42 days........................ I nearly gave up but thanks to those who encouraged me I have conquered 563 pages YEAH!!! the biggest book ever I have read. So here is my book review It started out great but I really got sick of Bella and her depression over Edward, that's where I lost interest however I did enjoy finally finding out that Jacob is the wolfman and the journery to Italy very scary. So now do I tackle the next one???
Lots of words I never heard of but I can't remember them off hand except epiphany how do you pronounce that word epi fanny?????

New Moon
Yes I am still reading it and my darling husband decided to read it as well and as usual he has passed me. I am so frustrated he's only taken 4 days to pass me. I even got angry and told him to leave my book only. I suppose the challenge for me now is to prove to myself that I can do it.

New Moon

So I have started to read this book because I loved the Twilight movie and this movie is out in November. This book has 563 pages YIPES this would have to be the longest book I have ever read (that's if I finish it). My friend Bex and I started at the same time and she has finished it already. I am on page 189 and so far the reading has been OK. I'm enjoying it more so because I can visualise the characters. I have also come across three words that I have never heard of before they are:
- rhetorical
- nonchalance
- masochistic
Well I hope I can finish it before November watch the space...............................

Book Review

Those who know me, know I am absolutely useless at reading. I can honestly say I have only read less than 10 books from start to finish ever. I just find reading hard and I seem to forget the plot or what I've read 4 pages back. I've been in the church 7 years and I'm still struggling my way through the Book of Mormon. Anyway while watching Good Morning they were interviewing this young man (Israel) and Fleur Beale (author) about a book of a religious cult here in NZ, I was intrigued right from the start and the interview was great. I went out that day and bought the book. I was hooked right from the start and for someone who is useless at reading I finished the book in 3 days AMAZING I know. My husband was most impressed. I really didn't want it to end. I'm no expert on book reviews but I would recommend this to read. It made me laugh, cry, get angry, felt disbelieved, relieved and joy. Anyone want to borrow it just shout out.
